Philippines expands tube capacity


The Philippines will increase its steel tube capacity with a new plant scheduled to be built in Batangas. The plant will be located at the LIMA Technology Center, Malvar, which is located in Batangas, south of Manila. It will have one tube mill, which is scheduled to start up in spring 2019, as well as cutting facilities.

The joint venture between Japan’s Maruichi Steel Tube and Toyota Tsusho and will produce steel tubing for use in the automotive parts manufacturing industries, according to Maruichi Steel Tube, which has a 70% stake in the venture. Toyota Tsusho holds a 30% stake in the business. The two companies already work together to produce and sell steel tubes in Japan, China, Vietnam, India and Mexico.
