Arkansas college and SMS group create steelmaking academy

Arkansas Northeastern College and Germany’s SMS group have signed an agreement to create Arkansas Steelmaking Academy (ASA). The school – located in Blytheville, Arkansas – is scheduled to open in 2019. Previously, SMS TECademy training had been available only in Germany.

“Not only will this help our customer base in North America, but the ASA can be a launching point in training for future generations of steelworkers with knowledge in the latest technology in steelmaking and processing,” Doug Dunworth, president and chief executive officer of SMS Technical Services, said.
