Conares Steel to build PPGI line

United Arab Emirates steel producer Conares Steel has started the construction of a new line to produce color-coated coil, or pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) chief executive officer Bharat Bhatia told Metal Bulletin.

The new PPGI line is being built in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, with equipment supplied by CMI Belgium. It will have capacity for 75,000 tonnes per year and will produce PPGI in gauges of 0.18-1.2 mm and in widths up to 1,500 mm. The total investment in the line will be $30 million.
