Mr. Matta is the Chief Marketing Officer of Ezz Steel, a position he has held for the last 20 years. Starting with the company since its inception, he set up a 15-member marketing organization, introduced a customer relationship function, established a marketing/economic research unit and executed a number of award-winning advertising campaigns. He played a key role in the success of a $1.5 billion acquisition in 2000 with the launch of a common brand name for the new group. Ezz Steel became the largest steel producer in the Middle East .in 2007/2008 and subsequently joined World Steel Dynamic’s list of World Class Steel Makers.
As a member of its Board, Mr. Matta is an active participant in the Arab Iron and Steel Union (AISU) and the Egyptian Chamber of Metal Industries. He is also a member of the Economics Committee of the World Steel organization. He is a regular speaker at regional steel conferences and writes regularly on the MENA steel industry. His papers are published in Arab Steel (AISU) magazine & Iron & Steel Review.
George has a B.A. degree in Economics from the American University in Cairo, a postgraduate Diploma in Integrated Marketing Communication from the same university, and a Diploma in Senior Executive Management from Harvard Business School, USA.
