Tenn. smelter lures Canadian bidder

A Tennessee smelter operating in Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection has attracted interest from an unidentified potential buyer from Ontario, according to a court document.
Justice Department bankruptcy official Beth Derrick said she seeks to have a trustee put in charge of Tri Star Aluminum LP, a scrap-based A380 sow producer located in Alexandria.
"The United States Trustee (office) was recently contacted by the president of an aluminum company in Toronto . . . and advised that he is interested in purchasing the assets or stock of the debtor," Derrick said.....
