US raw steel production inches higher

Raw steel output in the United States totaled 1,547,000 tons last week, a 1.8-percent increase from 1,519,000 tons the previous week, as mills operated at an average capability utilization rate of 64.9 percent.

In the corresponding week last year, mills produced 975,000 tons at an average capability utilization rate of 40.9 percent, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute, Washington.....
