No. 1 heavy melt exports tumble 25%

Offshore sales of No. 1 heavy melting scrap were 25 percent lower in August than the previous month as steel scrap importers in Turkey, Thailand and Taiwan trimmed their buying.
U.S. exports totaled 432,513 tonnes, down from 576,596 tonnes shipped overseas in July, to the lowest one-month total since March, when less than 400,000 tonnes left U.S. docks, according to the latest statistics from the U.S. Commerce Department.....
