Despite cutback, Suncor still spending $2.8B on oil sands

A Canadian energy company has reduced its spending next year—but will still spend Canadian $3.6 billion ($2.8 billion) on developing its oil sands properties.

Suncor Energy Inc., Calgary, Alberta, said its board of directors had approved a 2009 capital spending plan of C$6 billion ($4.63 billion), 60 percent of which is targeted at Suncor's Voyageur oil sands growth strategy.....
