Value of brass ammunition rebounds to 91¢ in auction

The auction value of forthcoming brass ammunition scrap in Yakima, Wash., has rebounded to 91 cents a pound from 56 cents in late October.

However, both values are far below the $2.74-a-pound level set in a Feb. 26 auction, which was supposed to nail down the price through February 2009.

The Army's Yakima Training Center generates about 150,000 pounds a year of fired brass ammunition scrap. Term contracts can be terminated early by either side with one month's notice.....
