Tube plant expansion lands V&M $2.6M Ohio tax break

Vallourec & Mannesmann Holdings Inc. (V&M) has received a $2.6-million tax credit for a proposed $639-million expansion of its tubemaking plant in Youngstown and Girard, Ohio.

The company recently requested an air-quality permit from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (AMM, Dec. 1), although Houston-based V&M said the project remains subject to company approval.

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved job creation and job retention tax credits for V&M, which is proposing to upgrade and expand its melt shop and billet casting operations to increase hourly production rates, Ohio Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher said.....
