Decision on legality of Grupo Mexico strike may come soon

Grupo Mexico SA de CV could hear this week if more than four months of industrial unrest at its Cananea copper mine in Sonora state is legal or not, according to a source close to the company.

A federal court is due to rule on the legality of the strike following a protracted legal battle between the company and the union representing workers who downed tools July 30 to protest issues relating to collective contracts as well as poor safety conditions and hygiene at Mexican mining operations.....
