US copper mart lifeless as housing woes worsen

Business activity in the U.S. physical copper market has come to a standstill as concerns over the slowdown in the residential construction sector deepen and consumers continue to run down inventory ahead of year-end.
Single-family home starts and permits both fell more than 5 percent in November to the lowest levels in more than 16 years, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Commerce Department. The construction of new homes accounts for a large proportion of copper consumption in the United States.....
