Clampdown on ferroalloys output will hit small players

The Chinese government plans to raise the threshold for permitted ferroalloys production capacity as it tightens up regulations in an effort to discipline the industry by eliminating smaller players.
Electric-arc furnaces with a ferroalloy capacity between 5,000 kilovolt amperes and 6,300 kva must be put out of action by the end of 2008, while all 6,300-kva furnaces must be phased out by the end of 2010, according to a new edict from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).....
