N. American aluminum demand down 1.6% in Oct., 3.6% for year

North American aluminum demand, defined as domestic production plus imports, totaled 2.19 billion pounds in October, off 1.6 percent from nearly 2.23 billion pounds in the same month last year, according to the latest figures from the Aluminum Association, Arlington, Va.

However, the October demand tally marked a 4.3-percent gain from demand of 2.1 billion pounds in September, the trade group said.....
