Berggren wins $1.6M in long-running Delta suit

Metals trader Scott Berggren was declared the winner of a $1.6-million judgment in November as belated payment for 1999-2000 sales of Russian metal to a failing secondary aluminum smelter in Wisconsin.
However, the launch of an appeal in August means he won't be collecting any of the money just yet.
The Muskego, Wis., smelter, Delta Group Inc., collapsed in 2001 (AMM, Oct. 5, 2006). The smelter was controlled in its final months by an arm of Wisconsin Energy Corp., which according to a judge in Illinois' Cook County Court was deemed to have engaged in "dishonest and unjust" activity to conceal the slide into bankruptcy.....
