FreightCar America ships out its 100,000th aluminum-body rail car

FreightCar America Inc., Chicago, has delivered its 100,000th aluminum rail car to a customer, 20 years after the company unveiled its first aluminum-sided coal gondola.

The milestone car—a BethGon II high-capacity gondola—was built at FreightCar's Danville, Ill., facility and delivered to NRG Energy Inc., Princeton, N.J. Executives noted that NRG also had received the first rail car built at Danville and has....
