W-P project to boost hot-strip mill output 14%

Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., Wheeling, W.Va., has scheduled a December shutdown to install new equipment it said will boost production at its hot-strip mill by about 14 percent, or 400,000 tons per year.
The steelmaker plans to install automatic roll changers on the hot-strip mill, which is expected to take 12 days. The roll changers will raise the mill's rated capacity to 3.2 million tons per year from 2.8 million tons currently, the company said.....
