Inco to appeal decision permitting class-action lawsuit on pollution

Inco Ltd., Toronto, plans to appeal an Ontario Court of Appeal ruling to certify a class-action suit against the company.

The Canadian $750-million ($634-million) lawsuit launched in March 2001, involving thousands of plaintiffs in Port Colborne, Ontario, alleges that the town was contaminated by nickel oxide from an Inco refinery operating there from 1918 to 1984.....
