Gerdau Ameristeel back in black as sales jump

Riding a wave of strong demand, higher prices and operational improvements, Gerdau Ameristeel Corp. reported record earnings and sales during the third quarter.The Tampa, Fla.,-based company reported earnings of $144.3 million in contrast to a loss of $10.1 million in the like 2003 quarter. Sales for the quarter were $807.9 million, a 75.4-percent gain from the $460.6 million posted in the third quarter of last year.....
