CVRD to build $58M pilot copper cathode plant

Brazil's Cia. Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD) plans to set up a test hydrometallurgical plant to make cathode using copper sulfide concentrates from its new Sossego Mine.
The pilot plant, with a capacity to produce 10,000 tonnes of cathode per year, is designed to prove the feasibility of cathode production via the hydrometallurgical route, which might be used both to process part of the production from Sossego and from the company's Salobo project, which is still being studied.....
