Nucor, SDI set 2d $20/T Dec. rebar hike

With scrap prices very much a moving target, producers of steel bar products are wasting no time in implementing a second round of hikes for December that, if fully absorbed, would amount to a $40-per-ton increase for the month.
Nucor Corp., Charlotte, N.C., has immediately raised tags on concrete reinforcing bar (rebar), merchant bar and structural products by $20 per ton ($1 per hundredweight), despite the fact that surcharges have yet to be established for the month. Orders confirmed at the close of business Dec. 2 will be price-protected if scheduled to ship no later than Dec. 31, the company said in a letter to customers.....
