Metal sector job creation stalls in June

CHICAGO — U.S. primary metal manufacturers added 15,100 employees to their payrolls in the first six months of 2011, 10.7 percent below the sector’s job growth of 16,900 positions in the same period last year.

Metal fabricating companies added 33,500 people to their payrolls in the six-month period, up 1.8 percent from 32,900 a year earlier, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data.....
