Ryerson acquires steel bar specialists

CHICAGO — Metals processor and distributor Ryerson Inc. has acquired a trio of steel service center operations and a logistics company in one big purchase.

Ryerson bought Turret Steel Industries Inc., Sunbelt-Turret Steel Inc. and Wilcox Steel, as well as Imperial Logistics. The terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, although the group generates a combined $130 million in annual revenues.

The purchase is "in line with the strategy to improve our position in long products," executive vice president and chief financial officer Terence Rogers told AMM Monday. "They have an impressive track record, impressive management and an impressive work force."....
