NEW YORK Alcoa Inc. continues to evaluate its operations and may not be done curtailing smelting or refining capacity, the companys top executive said.
"The 531,000 tonnes weve taken offline may not be the end," Alcoa chairman and chief executive officer Klaus Kleinfeld said during the companys first-quarter earnings conference call Tuesday. "We continue to look at Point Henry, our smelter in Australia, that is very high on the cost curve for a whole host of reasons. We continue to look at our Brazilian smelters. And we respectfully look at our portfolio on the refining side." ....
