USS rehires retirees after union layoffs: USW

TORONTO U.S. Steel Corp. has hired approximately 50 retired steelworkers as salaried employees after laying off 46 union members at its operations in Hamilton, Ontario, in late April, according to the union representing the facility.
The former retirees started work on May 14 on a contract that runs through Nov. 12, United Steelworkers union (USW) Local 1005 said in a bulletin dated Thursday.....
