ThyssenKrupp in talks on Americas operations

NEW YORK — ThyssenKrupp AG is in discussions with a number of parties regarding a possible sale of, or partnership for, its steel operations in Mobile, Ala., and Brazil, company executives said during a conference call with investors Friday.

Although the executives declined to specify the exact number of interested parties, ThyssenKrupp chief financial officer Guido Kerkhoff said there were more than 10. "I can tell you I have a very busy traveling schedule, and (there) is more interest than I expected," he said.

The Essen, Germany-based steelmaker said in May it was considering a sale or partnership (amm.com, May 15). At that time, steel analysts said the sale process could be a lengthy one (amm.com, May 18).....
