NEW YORK Chinese offer prices for cold-rolled sheet have become increasingly competitive, with market sources reporting that material can be obtained at a discount to domestic product, including typically lower-priced hot-rolled sheet.
Sources pegged transactions for Chinese material into the Northeast at $650 to $665 per ton, around 15 percent below the U.S. f.o.b. Midwest mill price of $775 per ton and as much as 3 percent lower than $670 per ton for U.S. hot-rolled sheet, which traditionally is roughly $100 per ton cheaper than cold-rolled sheet.....
