China steel output slips, iron ore inches higher

SHANGHAI, China — China’s crude steel output dipped in August as many producers put plants on maintenance, although iron ore production inched higher.
Crude steel output averaged some 1.89 million tonnes per day last month, down 4.9 percent from 1.99 million tonnes in July and 4.2 percent below the year-to-date average of 1.973 million tonnes per day, according to National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) data.....
