LONDON Imports of certain flat-rolled aluminum common alloys are taking business away from domestic mills, service center sources told AMM.
Flat-rolled alloys such as 3003 and 5052 coil and sheet, as well as 6061 plate, continue to hit U.S. shores from all over the world, namely China and Indonesia.
Domestic service centers are scooping up these imports, which one service center estimated are an average of 10 to 20 percent below the cost of U.S. product, which in turn is harming U.S. mills, sources said.....
