China iron ore imports rise as scrap, coking coal fall in May

SHANGHAI — China’s iron ore imports rose 2.1 percent month on month in May to 68.6 million tonnes, the third-highest monthly volume in history, according to Chinese Customs data released June 21. But shipments of coking coal and ferrous scrap both fell compared with April.

Iron ore arrivals from Australia rose 10.2 percent compared with April, while those from Brazil fell 9.6 percent.....
