Titanium market outlook flat to year-end

LOS ANGELES — Titanium spot market demand appears on track to remain flat through year-end as mills, consumers and distributors drive to pare inventory.

"It’s not getting any better," one distribution executive said. "The mills want to push out material, but the customers don’t want to take it."

While most sources reported standard aerospace alloy 6-aluminum/4-vanadium ingot in a range of $8.50 to $8.75 per pound, a number of buyers said it’s their impression an order of any decent size can go below this level. On mill products such as 6/4 bars and plate, prices appear stuck between $20 and $21 per pound and $25 and $26 per pound, respectively.....
