Evraz NA Regina layoffs seen less likely

NEW YORK — Evraz Inc. North America has managed to get some rail cars for outbound shipments from its tubular mill in Regina, Saskatchewan, making a potential temporary layoff of more than 400 workers there less likely, according to a local union representative.

"We had a conference call last night with (the company), and they’re getting rail cars right now. They’re fairly comfortable right now that there won’t be a layoff on (Jan. 20), but it still depends on them getting more cars," a spokesman for the United Steelworkers union told AMM, adding that this was a "marked improvement" from a few days....
