Midwest premiums fall; further drop predicted

CHICAGO — Midwest aluminum premiums dipped this week, with market participants predicting further steady declines but brushing aside chatter of a precipitous drop.

AMM’s spot P1020 premium dipped to 18.75 cents per pound March 12 from a previous range of 18.75 to 19 cents.

“The Midwest premium was higher than it should have been vs. other regional premiums. So it’s come down a bit,” one producer source said.....
