AK sees outage, weather driving 1st-qtr. loss

NEW YORK AK Steel Corp. expects a loss in the first-quarter on costs related to cold weather, an unplanned blast furnace outage and charges for a tentative legal settlement.
The West Chester, Ohio-based steelmaker expects to report a net loss of 44 to 49 cents per diluted share, it said in earnings guidance issued March 21, in contrast to fourth-quarter net income of 26 cents per share and widening from a net loss of 7 cents per share in the same year-ago quarter.....
