Aluminum scrap prices follow LME lower

NEW YORK — Secondary aluminum scrap prices were generally weaker this past week, with market participants battling to determine positions amid declining terminal markets.

The London Metal Exchange’s three-month aluminum contract settled the official session May 1 at $1,781 per tonne (80.8 cents per pound), down 3.2 percent from $1,840.50 per tonne (83.5 cents per pound) April 28, and slipped another 0.2 percent to $1,777.50 per tonne (80.6 cents per pound) May 2.....
