Aluminum extruders eye auto, solar growth

PHILADELPHIA U.S. aluminum extruders remain upbeat about the prospects for increased demand in 2014, but concerns persist for sectors that continue to feel the impact of the 2008 economic downturn, including building construction, panelists at AMMs Aluminum Summit in Philadelphia said.
"Innovation has been a key to industry growth, especially with alternative energy consumption up significantly in 2013," Jeffrey Henderson, director of operations at the Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC), said in reference to a question about spiking demand from the solar industry.....
