Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) increased its output by 2% in the first quarter of 2012, the company said on Sunday April 15.
Alba’s aluminium production rose to 220,738 tonnes in the first three months of 2012 compared with 216,792 tonnes in the first-quarter of 2011.
The company said it was able to sustain first-quarter sales at 214,891 tonnes, despite the European slowdown.
“Alba is well-positioned to continue with the positive trend established in 2011 through its sales and production figures,” Alba’s chief executive, Laurent Schmitt said.
Alba is one of the largest aluminium smelters in the world and produces more than 860,000 tpy of the high-grade aluminium.
