CHICAGO — Nucor Corp. has raised its raw materials surcharge for special bar quality (SBQ), wire rod and semi-finished products by $53 per ton ($2.65 per hundredweight) to $220 per ton ($11 per cwt), effective with shipments Dec. 1.
The increase, announced in a letter to customers Nov. 9, follows a $53-per-ton rise in AMM’s Chicago consumer buying price for No. 1 busheling scrap (amm.com, Nov. 7).
The Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker did not say whether it was also changing its base prices.
