A Jan. 31 article on Gerdau Long Steel North America indicated that it could rehire 30 to 35 laid-off employees at its St. Paul, Minn., mill when the upgrade of a continuous caster is complete in 2014. However, the re-hiring of those employees is expected when market demand recovers, which could be before completion of the caster. Also, due to an editing error, the article incorrectly stated the production capacity increase at the St. Paul mill upon completion of the new caster, which will lift capacity by 100,000 tons to approximately 550,000 tons.
