NEW YORK Michigan Seamless Tube LLC (MST) has finished building a new 9,600-square-foot pickling house at its South Lyon, Mich., facility, the company said Feb. 11.
The $6-million expansion will allow South Lyon-based MST to produce an additional 450 tons of product monthly, MST said.
"By reducing material costs and increasing total production capacity by approximately 13 percent, this investment will serve to expand the capabilities MST can offer," vice president of operations Les Whitver said in a statement.
In addition to boosting capacity, the new facility is also expected to improve the companys environmental footprint, it said.
The company, which makes carbon and alloy seamless cold-drawn pipe and tube, had earlier said that the expansion would be complete by the end of 2012 (amm.com, Oct. 25).
A company spokesman did not respond to a request for comment.
