NEW YORK AK Steel Corp. has raised most of its stainless steel surcharges for March, following similar moves announced by ATI Allegheny Ludlum Corp. and North American Stainless Inc. (NAS).
The West Chester, Ohio-based company set its March surcharges at 80.99 cents per pound for Type 304, up 3.3 percent from 78.39 cents in February; 53.16 cents per pound for Type 201, up 2.2 percent from 52 cents; and $1.1427 per pound for Type 316, up 2.4 percent from $1.1163. Its surcharge for Type 430 material, which contains no nickel, has been set at 21.53 cents per pound, down 1.3 percent from 21.81 cents in February.
