PITTSBURGH — Mike’s Scrap Metal has requested a conditional-use permit to operate a metals recycling facility in Wisconsin.

Mike Windisch is seeking permission from Polk’s Plan Commission and Town Board to operate the facility in Slinger. Windisch told AMM that he won’t be open to the public, though the nearest feeder yard is about 25 minutes away. The property includes a warehouse and sits on 0.8 acres.

Windisch said he has been in the scrap industry for more than two decades and is selling his unprocessed material to his former employer, which has a shredder in Milwaukee.
