CHICAGO Michael W. Sutherlin, the president and chief executive officer of mining equipment maker Joy Global Inc., will retire at the end of the year, the company said.
He will be succeeded by Edward Ted L. Doheny II, who now serves as president and chief operating officer of the Milwaukee-based companys underground mining equipment division.
At the same time, the company will also name Randal W. Baker to the new post of corporate chief operating officer. Baker currently serves as president and chief operating officer of the companys surface mining equipment division.
Ted and Randy have been an instrumental part of our success to date, and this will be a smooth and orderly transition, Sutherlin said in a statement March 14.
