Abakan, EWI partner on clad pipe

NEW YORK — Abakan Inc. is partnering with welding and allied technologies organization Edison Welding Institute (EWI) to accelerate the manufacturing scale-up of its CermaClad pipe.

Miami-based Abakan is the parent company of MesoCoat Inc., which makes CermaClad pipe and recently started up a new pipe-coating facility in Euclid, Ohio (amm.com, April 10).

Columbus, Ohio-based EWI will assist Abakan in developing manufacturing process specifications and nondestructive testing procedures, as well as bimetallic pipe welding and joining process qualification, the company said.
