Richard Teets Jr. has been named chairman of the Steel
Manufacturers Associations (SMAs) board of
directors, the association said in a statement Jan. 23.
Teets, executive vice
president of steelmaking and president and chief operating
officer of steel operations at Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Steel
Dynamics Inc., replaces John Ferriola in the post. Ferriola,
chairman and chief executive officer of Charlotte, N.C.-based
Nucor Corp., served as chairman of the Washington-based group
for the past two years and will remain on SMAs executive
Tracy Porter, senior
vice president of Irving, Texas-based Commercial Metals Co. and
president of its CMC Americas Inc. subsidiary in Baton Rouge,
La., was elected first vice chairman of the board. Jeff Dyck,
president of Cascade Steel Rolling Mills Inc., McMinnville,
Ore., was elected second vice chairman.
SMA is a trade
association with a predominant membership of North American
electric-arc furnace steel producers.
